There are so many unique things Seattle has to offer.
It can be hard to narrow them down, but who better to talk to than the people who live here? We asked our Instagram followers for their favorite unique things in Seattle that you can only find here. Read on to see what they said!
Here are the top seven unique things Seattle has that other cities don’t:
1. The next-level coffee
If there’s one stereotype about Seattle that is true, it’s that we’re a serious coffee town. (After all, Starbucks was created here!) Seattle has “the best coffee,” one local said.
You don’t have to look very hard to find it, either. “Coffee shops on every corner” are the norm in Seattle.
2. The food
The food in Seattle is something special. As one person put it, every meal “is so delicious and so special.” Another Seattleite said that “we do burgers soooo well.” We agreeācheck out our round up of the best burgers in Seattle.
Several locals were specific about the food spots that you can only enjoy in Seattle:
- Bamboo Village Restaurant
- Spiro’s Pizza, “the best pizza š ever”
- Beecher’s Handmade Cheese
- Copper River Salmon “fresh from Pike Place Market”
3. The unique things to do
Whether you’re a tourist or a local, there’s always something interesting to visit in Seattle. As one Seattleite put it, we have “a troll under a bridge, an actual wall of death and another of gum.”
Here are some local Seattleites’ favorite unique things that you can only see in Seattle:
- Chihuly Garden and Glass
- the Gum Wall
- the Amazon Spheres
- the Space Needle
- the first Starbucks
- Nightshade Tattoos & Plants: “a combination tattoo and plant shop”
4. The infrastructure
Seattle has a unique infrastructure. Some of it is really cool (such as the underground streets that you can tour in Pioneer Square) and some of it can be a headache (those steep hills!). But for the most part we feel fortunateāespecially for these two elements mentioned by locals:
- “Real sidewalks.” Cheers for living in a walkable city!
- “Seattle has a lot of fantastic viewpoints where you can see the skyline or nature.” (Or both, like at Kerry Park!)
5. The natural beauty
Seattle is truly unique in terms of its natural beauty. Here are locals’ favorite natural elements of Seattle:
- “City, forests, mountains, and beaches all in the same place.”
- “Fog, forests, mountains.”
- “Fresh tulips.”
- “Mount Rainier.”
6. The vibes
Sometimes you just can’t put your finger on it… It’s just the vibe:
- “Idk why but Seattle has special vibes. Every time I come there I donāt want to leave.”
- “Seattle has a special vibe, recently moved and loving it so far.”
Perhaps “the greatest number of nose rings per capita” (as one local claimed) contributes to the positive vibes. Who’s to say?
7. And finally… the people
In the end, when it comes to the best thing you can only find in Seattle one local put it best: “Seattleites š”
