Looking for Seattle Halloween events for kids?
There is actually a scary amount of kid-friendly Halloween things to do in Seattle this October. Some of the activities on this list may be more suitable for older kids; we included specific age recommendations whenever possible. Also, many of these events are free! Read on for all the spooky and (not-too-spooky) family-friendly Halloween events in Seattle this year!

1. Seattle Chocolate Haunted Factory Experience
When: October 19 to 29, 2023
Where: Seattle Chocolate in Tukwila
Cost: $15 for adults, $12 for ages under 13
If your kiddo wants to do a haunted house type of activity but isn’t quite old enough for some of Seattle’s scariest haunted experiences, take them to the Seattle Chocolate Haunted Factory Experience. There’s more treats than tricks, and it’s recommended for ages 8 and up.
2. Pumpkin carving with cats
When: October 20, 27, 28
Where: Seattle Meowtropolitan
Cost: $36
If your kiddos love cats, take them to this Jack o’ Lantern carving activity at a Seattle cat cafe. You get to spend time with the cute kitties and bring home your carved pumpkin. 3. Dog costume contest
When: October 27
Where: Freeway Park
Cost: Free
Your kiddo will love including the family dog in this month’s spooky fun. Dress your furry family member in their best Halloween costume and take them to Park Pups Spooktacular in Freeway Park. There will be a photo booth, live music, crafts, and free treats for all. The event runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
4. Día de Muertos at Seattle Art Museum
When: October 27
Where: Seattle Art Museum
Cost: Free
Teach your little ones about the traditions of Día de los Muertos at this community celebration that will have live music, dancing, and more. There is no age recommendation mentioned, other than that there will be “art-making activities suitable for all ages,” but keep in mind the event is in the evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. This event is free but it’s first-come, first-served so be sure to RSVP on the Seattle Art Museum website.
5. Halloween at the Aquarium
When: October 28 & 29
Where: Seattle Aquarium
Cost: Included with aquarium admission
The Seattle Aquarium is encouraging families to come in costume for some tricks and treats from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the weekend before Halloween. Activities include underwater pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, and photo opportunities with the costumed characters of Animal Crossing. It’s all included with your aquarium admission, and remember that kids age 3 and under are admitted for free.
6. Pumpkin Bash at Woodland Park Zoo
When: October 28 & 29
Where: Woodland Park Zoo
Cost: Included with zoo admission
The Seattle zoo has lots of family-friendly fun planned for the weekend before Halloween. Some of the activities that weekend include trick-or-treating and a costume parade. Plus you get to watch the zoo animals have their own fun bashing pumpkins. It’s all included in your zoo admission. See the schedule on the zoo website.
7. Full Moon Party
When: October 28
Where: Stan Sayres Park in Mt. Baker
Cost: Free (a couple of activities are $10 to participate)
The whole family will have a good time at this outdoor fall party that includes a kids bike rodeo, a scavenger hunt, a 5k fun run, and an illuminated nighttime bike ride. There will be food trucks, plus a beer garden for the adults. The entire event runs from noon to 10:00 p.m. See the event schedule and more info.
8. Hilloween
When: October 28
Where: AIDS Memorial Plaza at Broadway/Denny
Cost: Free
Hilloween is an annual Capitol Hill Halloween event that is free and family-friendly. The fun starts at 1:00 with drag queen spooky story time, and wraps up with a costume parade at 4:00. Trick-or-treating follows afterwards.
9. Halloween in the Junction
When: October 29
Where: Downtown West Seattle
Cost: Free
If you’re based in West Seattle then you’re probably going to want to take your kiddo to Halloween in the Junction. There will be trick-or-treating, fun activities for kids, and a costume parade that starts at 11:00 a.m.
10. The Museum of Fright
When: October 29
Where: Museum of Flight
Cost: Included with museum admission (free for ages 17 and under wearing a costume)
Seattle’s Museum of Flight transforms into the Museum of FRIGHT for one day this month. All kinds of family-friendly activities will be included in your museum admission for that day such as face painting, a dance party, and spooky activities. Make sure your kiddo wears their costume for free admission!
11. Día de Muertos Festival at Seattle Center
When: October 28-29
Where: Seattle Center
Cost: Free
Keep the Day of the Dead theme going all weekend with the Día de Muertos Festival Seattle. This is a free event for all ages at Seattle Center’s Army Food & Event Hall and Fisher Pavilion. The festival runs from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days.
12. Thrill the World
When: October 21, 22, 28, 29, 31
Where: various locations
Cost: Free
Thrill the World is a world-wide performance of the famous “Thriller” dance. You and your family can go watch Seattleites dressed like zombies perform the dance this October in several Seattle neighborhoods. See all the dates and locations on the Seattle Thrillers website.
13. Laina’s Haunted Carnival & Ice Cream Shop
When: October 31
Where: The Stone House Cafe
Cost: Free
All ages are welcome to come through this carnival-themed haunted house hosted by Laina’s Ice Cream and The Stone House Cafe. When you get to the end, you can enjoy a discount at Laina’s Ice Cream. They’ll be open between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
14. FOCS Halloween Street Party
When: October 31
Where: Leschi (30th & Charles)
Cost: Free
Families of Color Seattle (FOCS) is hosting a free Halloween street party from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Leschi neighborhood. All ages are welcome to come and enjoy games, live music, and candy.
15. Trolloween
When: October 31
Where: The Fremont Troll
Cost: Free
The annual Trolloween event is a celebration of the Fremont Troll’s birthday on Halloween. It starts at 7:00 p.m. with live music in front of the Troll, then is followed by the Haunt of Fremont march. This is a nighttime event with lots of loud music and possibly spooky costumes, so only you know best if your kid is up for it.
