There is actually a scary amount of kid-friendly Halloween things to do in Seattle this October. Some of the activities on this list may be more suitable for older kids; we included specific age recommendations whenever possible. Also, many of these events are free!

1. Halloween pet parade at Volunteer Park

📅When: Sunday, October 5, 2025
📍Where: Volunteer Park in Capitol Hill
💰Cost: Free!
This family-friendly tradition is great fun whether you have a pet or not. Head to Volunteer Park on Sunday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m. to watch Seattle pets parade around in their Halloween costumes. Afterwards there will be a costume contest, craft booths for kids, food trucks, and more. See the full schedule here.
2. Hallow-Screen at Seattle Children’s Theatre

📅When: Saturday, October 18, 2025
📍Where: Charlotte Martin Theatre at Seattle Center
💰Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for kids
Seattle Children’s Theatre is having a Halloween event with a Scooby Doo movie recommended for ages 6+ on October 18. There will be treats and spooky snacks included with a screening of the movie Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. and the movie begins at 2:00. Get all the info on the STC website.
3. Free Halloween events at Seattle community centers

If you’re looking for budget-friendly Halloween fun for your kid in Seattle, there’s probably a community center near you that has a free Halloween carnival, festival, or costume parade planned. Some community centers are also offering teen events for ages 13 to 18 this month, as well as some low-cost Halloween events with admission ranging from $5 to $10—such as the annual $5 haunted house at Magnuson Community Center. 4. A Haunted Escape Room at Maeve Chocolate
📅When: select dates in October 2025
📍Where: Maeve Chocolate Factory (1180 Andover Park West, Tukwila, WA)

If your kiddo wants to do a haunted house type of activity but isn’t quite old enough for some of Seattle’s scariest haunted houses, take them to the 50-minute Haunted Escape Room Experience at Maeve Chocolate (formerly Seattle Chocolate). There’s more treats than tricks, and it’s recommended for ages 10 and up. See more info on the Maeve Chocolate website.
5. A free haunted trail in Beacon Hill

📅When: select dates in October 2025 (see below)
📍Where: Beacon Hill (5923 21st Ave S)
💰Cost: Free!
This free haunted trail in Beacon Hill is back for its second year. It’s a volunteer-run, DIY endeavor at a private residence that was created to “provide a Halloween experience for everyone FREE of charge.” It’s designed to be kid-friendly but if your easily-spooked kid wants to try it, they recommend coming right at opening before it gets dark. This year’s dates are:
- October 17, 18, 24, 25 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- October 31 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
6. Camp Long Trail or Treat
📅When: Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m.
📍Where: Camp Long in West Seattle (5200 35th Ave SW Dawson, Seattle, WA)
💰Cost: Free!
All ages are welcome to trick or treat along the illuminated pathways of Camp Long in West Seattle. There will also be storytelling, a spooky scavenger hunt, art activities, and more. This event is rain or shine. See the event page on FB.
7. Hunger Goblin Trick or Treat in PhinneyWood
📅When: Saturday, October 25, 2025 from noon to 3:00
📍Where: Greenwood Ave
💰Cost: Free!
Trick or treat for a good cause on Saturday, October 25 in the PhinneyWood business district. This community trick or treat event has been around for 30 years but in 2013 it also became a food drive, with food donation boxes for FamilyWorks set up in businesses every October. If you plan to trick or treat, look for a “Participating Business” sign in business windows between 67th and 87th on Greenwood Ave from noon to 3:00 p.m. that day. 8. T’Challaween in Beacon Hill
📅When: Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
📍Where: Beacon Hill
💰Cost: Free!
Volunteers are needed to hand out nearly 250 pounds of candy during this annual South End tradition. T’Challaween is a trick or treat parade in South Seattle that ends with a Halloween festival in Jefferson Park. The parade route goes from 18th & South College Street to Jefferson Park, where there will be games, activities, and entertainment. You can RSVP for free, donate, sign up to volunteer, and get all the info on the T’Challaween website.
9. Pumpkin Bash at Woodland Park Zoo

📅When: October 25 and 26, 2025
📍Where: Woodland Park Zoo (5500 Phinney Ave. N., Seattle, WA)
💰Cost: Included with zoo admission (free for age 12 and under)
The Seattle zoo has lots of family-friendly fun planned for the weekend before Halloween. Some of the activities that weekend include trick-or-treating and a costume parade. Plus you get to watch the zoo animals have their own fun bashing pumpkins. It’s all included in your zoo admission. Each adult ticket also admits one child age 12 and younger for free. 10. Trick or treating at West Seattle Harvest Fest

📅When: Sunday, October 26, 2025
📍Where: California Ave in downtown West Seattle (the Junction)
💰Cost: Free!
The annual West Seattle Harvest Festival returns on Sunday, October 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It starts with a costume parade and a chili cook-off. There will also be a pie-eating contest and a performance of the “Thriller” dance. And, of course, kids will enjoy trick-or-treating the entire time “with a focus on fun activities.”
11. The Museum of FRIGHT

📅When: Sunday, October 26, 2025
📍Where: Museum of Flight (9404 East Marginal Way S. Seattle, WA)
💰Cost: Included with museum admission (free for ages 17 and under wearing a costume)
Seattle’s Museum of Flight transforms into the Museum of FRIGHT for one day on Sunday, October 26. All kinds of family-friendly activities will be included in your museum admission for that day; past years included face painting, a dance party, and spooky activities. Ages 17 and under in costume get free admission.
12. Thrill the World performances

📅When: October 25, 26, and 31
📍Where: various locations
💰Cost: Free!
Thrill the World is a world-wide performance of the famous “Thriller” dance. You and your family can go watch Seattleites dressed like zombies perform the dance this October in several Seattle neighborhoods. See all the dates and locations on the Seattle Thrillers website.
13. CID Spooktacular Treats

📅When: Friday, October 31
📍Where: Chinatown-International District
💰Cost: Free!
All ages are welcome to enjoy this free event. There will be trick-or-treating at participating businesses from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Chinatown-International District (CID). There will also be prizes, games, and activities at Hing Hay Park and Hoa Mai Park.
14. Waterfront Park Frights and Delights

📅When: Friday, October 31, 2025
📍Where: Waterfront Park Promenade
💰Cost: Free!
All ages are invited to celebrate Halloween for the first time at the brand-new Seattle Waterfront Park. There will be live music, a youth costume contest, and more. The festivities run from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Halloween. You can RSVP for free on the Waterfront Park website (optional).
15. Trolloween in Fremont

📅When: Friday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m.
📍Where: The Fremont Troll (North 36th Street, Troll Ave N)
💰Cost: Free!
The annual Trolloween event is a celebration of the Fremont Troll’s birthday on Halloween. It starts at 7:00 p.m. with live music in front of the Troll, then is followed by the Haunt of Fremont procession. This is a nighttime event with loud music and possibly spooky costumes, so only you know best if your kid is up for it.
