Looking for something festive to do the day after Thanksgiving? You don’t want to miss the downtown Seattle tree lighting celebration this Friday, November 25. There will be live music, giveaways, fireworks, and more fun at this free event presented by Alaska Airlines.
Read on for all the details about this year’s Seattle tree lighting ceremony!
Seattleites look forward to this free holiday event in Westlake Park every year. It begins at 3:00 p.m. with a two-hour concert featuring a lineup that includes surf-rock band Warren Dunes, a cappella carolers, and more.
Then the countdown to the lighting ceremony starts at 5:00 p.m. Not only will the huge downtown Seattle Christmas tree be lit up, but there will also be the illuminated Macy’s Star and fireworks.
After the tree lighting ceremony, the event will conclude with another live concert performed by the Dusty 45s for a grand finale. Between the free live music, the fireworks, and the festive lights (and the fact that it’s free!), we can’t think of a better way to welcome the holiday season to Seattle.
Bonus tip: If you can’t make it this Friday—or you just want to double up on your holiday lights events—you can enjoy a similar event the following day. On this Saturday, November 26 Pike Place Market is hosting their annual Magic in the Market event from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a lighting ceremony there too, in addition to free photos with Santa, kids activities, and more fun.
