Looking for something festive to do the day after Thanksgiving? You don’t want to miss the downtown Seattle tree lighting celebration this Friday, November 24. There will be live music, giveaways, fireworks, and more fun at this free holiday event that we look forward to all year.
Read on for all the details about this year’s Seattle tree lighting ceremony!
Seattleites look forward to this free holiday event in Westlake Park every year. It begins at 3:30 p.m. with live music, giveaways, and costumed characters.
Then the countdown to the lighting ceremony starts at 5:00 p.m. Not only will the huge downtown Seattle Christmas tree and the iconic Macy’s star both get lit up, but there will also be an epic fireworks show.
After the tree lighting ceremony, the event will conclude with more festive live music from the African American Cultural Ensemble and Motown vocal trio The Jewel Tones.
Between the live performances, the fireworks, and the festive lights (and the fact that it’s free!), we can’t think of a better way to welcome the holiday season in Seattle.
Bonus event: If you can’t make it this Friday—or you just want to double up on your holiday lights events—you can enjoy a similar event the following day. On this Saturday, November 25 Pike Place Market is hosting their annual Magic in the Market event from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a lighting ceremony there too, in addition to free photos with Santa, kids activities, and more fun.
