Do you think Seattle is a good city for being single?
According to this new ranking, it’s actually the best! WalletHub just released their list of 2022’s Best & Worst Cities for Singles and Seattle is in the number-one spot. They compared over 180 cities in the U.S. for the list, which makes Seattle’s ranking even more impressive.
Read on for all the fascinating details.
To create this ranking, WalletHub weighed “36 key indicators of dating-friendliness” for each city. This includes considerations such as the percentage of the city that is single and the average cost of a two-person meal.
If you look at the full list, each city has three rankings: economics, fun and recreation, and dating opportunities. Seattle is ranked high for the latter two: it is in the number-two spot for dating opportunities and at number seven for fun and recreation. However, it is ranked near the bottom of the list at number 167 for economics—not surprising, as we all know Seattle is expensive. That said, if you have a salary commensurate with the cost of living in Seattle, you may find that the wealth of things to do and the dating opportunities here balance out the cost of going on dates.
An interesting takeaway from this study is just how expensive it is to date. According to WalletHub, “the average date costs over $90 and 19% of people in Gen Z and 22% of millennials report going into debt for dates.” If you’re single and trying to date in a city as expensive as Seattle, those stats may not surprise you.
