Spending Christmas in Seattle? You made the right choice, according to a brand-new ranking by WalletHub. They just named Seattle as the number-one city in the U.S. for celebrating Christmas! A total of 32 metrics were weighed for 100 U.S. cities and Seattle, WA came out on top as the winner.

To create this ranking, WalletHub analyzed 100 major U.S. cities to see which had the best potential for a Christmas that is both festive and affordable. They considered five key categories of criteria that make for an enjoyable Christmas:
- Traditions and fun
- Observance
- Generosity
- Shopping
- Costs
A total of 32 relevant metrics went into the analysis of those key criteria. For example, “observance” included metrics such as churches per capita, since Christmas is a Christian holiday. Other metrics included food banks per capita, Google search interest for “Christmas celebration,” Christmas markets per capita, and average cost of expenses such as Christmas parties, hotel rooms, and restaurants. Affordability in particular was a big part of the ranking, since WalletHub pointed out that in 2022 “Americans are projected to spend between $943 billion and $960 billion over the holidays, the highest amount ever.”
After Seattle, the top five cities for spending Christmas in included Atlanta, GA; Las Vegas, NV; Pittsburgh, PA; and Orlando, FL. To see the full list, check it out on the WalletHub website.
