Seattle summers are made for getting outside, whether that means paddling on Lake Union, hiking nearby trails, or heading to one of the city’s waterfront parks. But when you need a break from the heat, or you’re simply looking for something different to do with friends or family, there’s no shortage of indoor attractions worth checking out.
One of the most imaginative is Bubble Planet in Bellevue, where a massive former Toys “R” Us store has been completely reimagined as a colorful, bubble-filled world packed with interactive installations, optical illusions, and immersive experiences.

Located less than 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, this enormous 46,000-square-foot space has traded toy aisles for oversized bubbles, dreamlike landscapes, and more than 10 themed environments designed to engage all five senses.
Inside Bubble Planet’s immersive worlds
Rather than following a traditional exhibition format, Bubble Planet invites visitors to wander through a series of interactive rooms, each centered around a different interpretation of bubbles. One moment you might be surrounded by floating balloons and shimmering lights, while the next you’ll find yourself stepping into an enormous bubble bath filled with soft foam balls or exploring surreal digital landscapes.
The attraction combines large-scale installations with projection mapping, optical illusions, mirrors, lighting effects, and hands-on activities that encourage visitors to interact with every space. Many rooms are designed specifically for photos, making it just as appealing for adults as it is for younger visitors.

One of the biggest optional add-ons is the virtual reality experience, which transports guests into a fantastical bubble-filled universe through immersive VR technology. Standard admission does not include VR access, but tickets can be purchased separately on-site.
Most visits last between 60 and 90 minutes, giving guests plenty of time to explore every room at their own pace. The experience welcomes all ages, with children 2 and under admitted free, although anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Socks are required inside the Bubble Bath installation, and the venue is fully ADA accessible.
