A silent vigil will take place on the evening of Wednesday, July 29 at the International Fountain to remember the victims and support everyone impacted by Sunday’s tragic shooting at the Bite of Seattle event at Seattle Center. The community gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m., offering a space for collective mourning and remembrance.
Members of the public are invited to participate in the vigil by bringing a flower or a written message to place at the International Fountain. The event is being held by Seattle Center and organized in partnership with the Mayor’s Office, the Seattle Police Department, and the Seattle Fire Department.
To accommodate community members traveling to the memorial, complimentary public parking will be available on Wednesday evening. Attendees can access the Seattle Center’s 5th Avenue North and Mercer Street parking garages between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
Those wishing to attend should plan to arrive ahead of the 6:30 p.m. start time at the International Fountain, located on the Seattle Center grounds, and consider using the designated 5th Avenue North or Mercer Street garages for free evening parking.
A less formal, community-organized vigil was also held on the evening of Monday, July 27 at the International Fountain.
The vigils are following Sunday’s shooting at Seattle Center that left three people dead. If you or someone you know is in need of support, we have compiled a guide to local and national mental health and gun violence resources here.
