Looking for bagels in Seattle?
East Coasters who have moved to Seattle love to complain about how hard it is to find a proper bagel here. They do exist, however! You just need to know where to look. And who better to ask than the locals? We asked Seattleites to name their absolute favorite bagel spot and ended up with these seven mouth-watering recommendations.
Here are the best bagels in Seattle, according to locals:
1. Hey Bagel, University Village
Seattleites have been lining up outside this new bagel shop located in University Village since it opened in early 2025. They offer two things: hot bagels and bialys baked fresh every day (plus coffee). Don’t expect any sandwiches, and don’t bother asking them to toast your bagel (they won’t and they don’t need to; trust us on this). Get a tub of cream cheese and dip teared-off chunks of bagel directly into it.
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (or sellout) daily
📍4610 Village Ct NE
2. Backyard Bagel, Fremont
Arriving in Seattle by way of farmers markets and then a brick-and-mortar in Fremont in 2024, Backyard Bagel makes bagels that are “NYC inspired with local PNW ingredients.”
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (or sellout), Wednesdays through Sundays
📍4310 Fremont Ave N
3. Mt. Bagel, Madison Valley
Seattleites grieved the loss of Mt. Bagel when they announced their departure from Seattle—but now they’re back! You can find this popular small-batch bagel shop in Madison Valley, although you’ll probably want to check their website for the next preorder date.
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays
📍801 26th Ave E
4. Rachel’s Bagels & Burritos, Ballard
Bagels and burritos? It may seem like an odd combo, but Rachel’s has seen huge success with their innovative business plan. One local said, “I gave them to New Yorkers and they loved them!” (The ultimate bagel test!)
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (closed Tuesdays)
📍5451 Leary Ave NW
5. Old Salt Fish & Bagels, Fremont
As one local put it, “As a picky jew originally from NJ and NYC who had a bagel in hand out of the womb I’ve become very opinionated about bagels. Old Salt is the only one I’ve had here worth a nod.”
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on weekends, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on weekdays (closed Mon-Tues)

6. Loxsmith Bagels, Beacon Hill & West Seattle
Loxsmith is probably the only place in Seattle where you can get a charcoal bagel! You can also get incredible lox there, as the name would have you hope. Note that the hours differ for each location.
