Ciao, Roma! Pack your bags because we’re finally going to be able to fly nonstop from Seattle to Rome. Thanks to Alaska Airlines, Seattle will be connected to Italy with a nonstop flight for the first time ever.
Read on for all the details!
Alaska Airlines announced this week that they are adding Rome, Italy to their “international destination lineup.” This is their third widebody, international route announced this year. The first nonstop flights from Seattle to Tokyo launched in May and nonstop flights between Seattle and Seoul will begin on September 12.
Rome was chosen by the airline as their first European destination due to its popularity among travelers. According to Alaska Airlines, “Rome is the most popular European destination not currently served nonstop from Seattle” and is “consistently among the most-requested destinations for Mileage Plan members.”
Ultimately, Alaska Airlines plans to offer at least 12 nonstop flights to global destinations from Seattle by 2030. It’s all part of their goal to make Seattle “into the West Coast’s new premier global gateway.”
There will be four flights from Seattle to Rome every week. The flights will be serviced by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operated by Alaska Airlines.
The flights to Rome will begin in May 2026. You’ll be able to book your flight starting in fall 2025 through Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines. If you want to be among the first to know exactly when the Rome flights are available to purchase, you can sign up for an early-access list on Alaska Air. Happy travels!
