Ever wish there was a women’s sports bar in Seattle? Your wish becomes reality this winter!
Seattle is home to several fantastic women’s sports team, including the Seattle Storm and OL Reign. However, Seattle resident Jen Barnes struggled to find a local pub where she could watch these teams compete. She found herself wishing that there was a women’s sports bar in Seattle. Now Barnes is set to open her own pub in Ballard that will prioritize women’s sports, named Rough & Tumble.
Read on for all the details!
Due to open this winter in Ballard, Rough and Tumble will have more than a dozen TV screens dedicated to broadcasting women’s sports. Unlike a similar pub in Portland called the Sports Bra, Rough and Tumble won’t limit itself to women’s games only (Barnes is a fan of other Seattle teams as well, such as the Sounders and Seahawks). That said, the family-friendly pub hopes to instill an appreciation of women’s sports in all ages.
Rough and Tumble will prioritize more than women’s sports. According to Seattle Met, you’ll find women-owned breweries, wineries, and other businesses front-and-center at the bar.
Although Barnes hopes to open the pub by the end of this year, the exact location and opening date of Seattle’s first women’s sports bar have yet to be announced. You can follow Rough and Tumble on Instagram for updates or check out their website. Keep an eye out for upcoming pop-ups before the official opening day!
