What is “We Call It Tango”?
Because “it takes two to tango”, the pair of dancers will narrate the story of the tango’s origin through their unspoken language. From close embraces to twists, pivots, and taps, each movement will work closely with the bandoneon (similar to an accordion) and the piano. Through 3 acts and 13 tangos, discover this significant dance and culture at an immersive show enhanced by lighting effects.
Tango, its music, and the show
Born in the working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires in the 19th century, the tango was influenced by African rhythms, European melodies, and traditional Argentine dances. Emerging from marginalized communities, it expresses passion, nostalgia, and struggle. From brothels to bourgeois salons, this evocative art has captivated the world with its sensual movements and raw emotion, becoming an emblematic dance of Argentina, symbolizing its identity and cultural diversity.
And you don’t have to travel to experience it. Tango is coming to you with music inextricably linked to the dance, like Carlos Gardel’s “Por una cabeza”, for a night of passion in Seattle.
