Looking for something unique to do in Seattle this Halloween? We have a guide with over 20 Halloween events in Seattle this year, but today we’re highlighting one of our all-time favorites. Trolloween is an annual Halloween tradition that even some longtime Seattleites don’t know about—and it’s free!
Read on for all the details about this year’s Trolloween in Seattle.
Trolloween is one of the most unique Halloween events in the country. Not only is it a Halloween event, but it’s also a birthday party for the Fremont Troll. This year, on October 31, 2025, Seattle’s famous Fremont Troll is turning 35 years old.
If you’d like to join the party, Trolloween takes place at 7:00 p.m. sharp—and it’s located at the base of the Fremont Troll, of course. There will be live music with people dressed in costumes as well as “a theatrical pageant.” All ages are welcome but if you’re bringing kids, note that the music can be quite loud and some costumes may be scary.
The main event at the Troll will then be followed by the Haunt of Fremont. This Halloween procession through Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood takes one of two routes, depending on the weather. Note that Trolloween takes place rain or shine!
If you plan to attend Trolloween, there is no need to RSVP or purchase advance tickets for this free event. This community event hasn’t been widely advertised in the past due to limited space at the Troll, so consider showing up early for a good spot (and don’t expect to find parking nearby). And don’t forget to wear a costume!
Trolloween is one of several annual events organized by the Fremont Arts Council. They describe their mission as: “Engaging community to cultivate the spirit of celebration where everyone is an artist.” Their other annual events include the Fremont Solstice Parade every June and the Luminata lantern parade around Green Lake every September. You can see more info and support their mission on the Fremont Arts Council website.
