Summer at SAM encourages Seattleites to get outside, get creative, and have fun!
Twice a week from Thursday, July 14 to Friday, August 26, Seattle Art Museum (SAM) is offering free activities and performances at Olympic Sculpture Park for all ages. Summer at SAM offers an easy way to take advantage of Seattle’s beautiful summer.
Every Thursday and Saturday, you can swing by Olympic Sculpture Park to partake in any of the free events and activities happening that day. Whether you’re searching for free things to do with kids in Seattle, looking for something fun to do after work on Thursdays, or in need of a budget-friendly Saturday activity, Summer at SAM has something for you.

Starting on July 14, Summer at SAM runs every Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It takes place in Seattle’s stunning Olympic Sculpture Park, which is conveniently located downtown by the waterfront.
The park is created and operated by Seattle Art Museum, which makes it the natural setting for Summer at SAM—but it’s also a cool Seattle landmark to visit at any time. You’ll find a wide variety of sculptures scattered across the nine acres of this outdoor museum year-round, in addition to an indoor pavilion and a beach.
Summer at SAM is offering a wide range of activities to serve all interests. If you love getting active outdoors, you’ll want to make time on Saturdays for either a morning yoga class (bring your own mat!) or an afternoon Zumba lesson. Both classes are free, open to all levels of experience, and happening in rain or shine.
Of course, since this summer series is from Seattle Art Museum, there will also be plenty of opportunities to get creative. Twice a week, on both Thursdays and Saturdays, there will be a “SAM Creates” activity. Visitors will get to participate in a free activity led by local artists. Your creations will range from macrame to interactive sculptures.
One of the most exciting parts of Summer at SAM is the live musical performances. Every Thursday evening, Summer at SAM kicks off with a free concert. You may discover a new favorite musical artist!
There will also be a rotating variety of food trucks every Thursday evening starting at 5:45 p.m., as well as beer and wine options—so you can grab a tasty bite to eat and a drink before taking in the free outdoor concert. Not a bad way to wrap up your week!
There will also be a final event on the evening of Friday, August 16. SAM REMIX is “inspired by sculptures in the park,” and will allow you to explore art installations, music, and more. This event is also free and runs from 8 p.m. to midnight.
