Dwellsy compiled the data on apartment rent prices, single-family home prices, and more rental categories for the month of July 2022. The cost of rent for a single-family home in Seattle was high enough last month to land it in the top 10 for the entire country.
The good news is that Seattle at least came in last in the top-10 ranking. The full list, starting with the highest rent, includes: Santa Barbara, CA; Salinas, CA; San Jose, CA; San Francisco, CA; Naples-Marco Island, FL; Los Angeles, CA; San Diego, CA; Austin, TX; Oxnard-Thousand Oaks, CA; and finally, Seattle, WA.
For comparison, the median single-family home rent in July 2022 in the top-ranking city, Santa Barbara, was $3,800 whereas in Seattle it was $3,030 for the same month.
Dwellsy also compared its findings to last year, determining that there was a 12% increase in single-family rent prices in Seattle compared to July 2021. This may not come as a surprise to anyone on the hunt for a rental in Seattle this year.
