
Calling all bookworms and introverts in Seattle!
Did you know that Seattle is a hub for silent book clubs and silent reading parties? These low-key events offer a great way to unwind with fellow introverts and book lovers.
Whether it’s a silent reading party or a silent book club, most of these events reoccur at least once a month. Most of them are also free, although of course you should try to buy a beverage or snack at the venue that is hosting.

1. Silent Reading Party at Hotel Sorrento
Get cozy with a drink and a book by the fire on every Wednesday evening and select Sundays in the Fireside Room of Hotel Sorrento while musician Paul Matthew Moore plays the piano. This is the original Seattle Silent Reading Party that started in 2009! This event is more upscale than some of the more casual silent book clubs and there is a reservation fee that starts at around $15, plus a food and drink minimum of $20 per person. Note that this is for ages 21+ only.

2. The Virtual Silent Reading Party
If you prefer to join a silent reading party from the comfort of your own home, you can attend this worldwide virtual silent book club online. The best part is that you still get to enjoy Paul Matthew Moore’s live piano music. Get more info and tickets on the event website.
3. Silent Book Club Seattle
The original Silent Book Club of Seattle since 2016! They meet up several times a month around Seattle at different locations. Sometimes they have other events as well such as book bingo and book swaps. Follow along on their Instagram to see the upcoming dates and locations.
4. West Seattle Book Club
West Seattleites can meet in venues across West Seattle and White Center for this silent book club. They offer a multitude of venue options for each meetup date, so you can decide if you prefer to do your reading in a bar or brewery versus a cafe or restaurant. 5. Silent Book Club of Shoreline

7. Silent Book Club Capitol Hill
Located in or near Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood? There’s a silent book club there for you. They typically meet twice a month, sometimes with a twist such as a recent meetup that provided attendees with positive affirmation coloring pages to work on. 8. Queer Silent Book Club Seattle
Finally, queer folks and allies in Seattle are welcome to join this silent book club that meets twice a month. Find them at Ada’s Technical Books & Cafe in Capitol Hill on the first Monday of each month and at Charlie’s Queer Books in Fremont on the fourth Friday of each month.
