Summer is extending well into fall during this Seattle October heat wave.
Chances are good that you’ve noticed unusually warm fall weather in Seattle this October. It’s been so warm, in fact, that Seattle broke not one but two temperature records so far this October.
Read on for all the details.
It was so warm this past weekend in Seattle that many flocked to our city beaches and lakes to cool down. On Sunday, October 2 Sea-Tac Airport recorded a high temperature of 80 degrees. This broke the previous record for that day in October, which was 79 degrees back in 1993.
New Daily High Temperatures Set on 10/02 đź“ť
Sea-Tac Airport 80° (old record 79° in 1993)
Bellingham 75° (73°, 1993)
Olympia 83° (80°, 1993 & 1980)
Quillayutte 82°, (80°, 1980 & 1970)— NWS Seattle (@NWSSeattle) October 3, 2022
And that’s not the only weather record that Seattle broke this month. NWS reported yesterday that this October saw three consecutive days of over-75 degree weather for the first time ever in Seattle.
…yay, we did it… 3 consecutive days of 75+ degree days in a row in October, for the first time ever… go us… 🙄
Who else is ready for actual October weather?#wawx

As you can see in the replies to the above Tweet, Seattleites are more than ready for the start of normal fall weather. If that’s you as well, unfortunately you will have to wait a little longer for sweater weather. Although we woke up to cooler, foggy weather this morning, the forecast for the rest of this week continues to be warm, with temperatures reaching the low 70s. Hopefully by next week this unusual Seattle October heat wave will be over.
The air quality in Seattle has also been unusually bad for October due to the Bolt Creek wildfire. Be sure to keep checking the AQI before opening your windows or spending an extended amount of time outdoors, especially if you are part of a sensitive group.
