WalletHub just released the 2022 list of the top cities in the US to start a career. Out of 182 cities, Seattle ranked at number five!
The goal of the list is to help recent graduates figure out the best place to attempt to start a successful career. WalletHub’s study judged each city on 27 different metrics to arrive at their total scores. The two key dimensions that WalletHub based the judging on were professional opportunities (such as availability of entry-level jobs) and quality of life (such as commute time and housing costs).
Seattle’s total score ended up being 61.38. For comparison, Salt Lake City was the highest-ranking city on the list and had an overall score of 65.12.
Some of the biggest cities that Seattle beat were San Francisco, New York, Boston, and Washington, DC. Although housing costs in Seattle have soared over recent years, the tech industry is still booming. This is reflected in the breakdown of Seattle’s overall score. Seattle only scored a two for quality of life, but made up for it with a score of 12 for professional opportunities (the highest of the top 10 cities).
As graduates from the class of 2022 prepare to enter the job market, many of them will probably be looking at Seattle as a potential place to launch their career. Seattle was also just ranked high on the list of the best cities to live in the US. Read about the many reasons why Seattle is a great place to live here.
