The study by LawnStarter analyzed the 500 biggest U.S. cities based on 4 different categories. They compared the following factors:
- Park Accessibility
- Number of public parks
- The amount of residents within a 10-minute walk of a park
- Climate
- Percentage of sunny days
- Other weather conditions
- Laws and Regulations
- If public drinking is banned in the state
- Safety
- Crime index
Seattle’s Score
Seattle has an overall score of 51.7. It’s ranked 4th in the category of “Share of Residents Within a 10-Minute Walk of a Park” which means Seattlites are never too far from a grassy green spot. The city also ranked number 24 in the “Number of Trails” category. Seattle boasts great walking, hiking, and biking trails within the city.
The “Share of Land Used for Parks and Recreation” category ranked at 68. And best of all, Seattle has the third “Highest Number of Public Parks” in the whole country. In fact, it comes third only after New York City and Chicago.
