Seattle has been experiencing an unusually warm and dry October, but that’s about to change. This weekend’s weather is predicted to bring some relief, with Seattle getting more rain this weekend than it has seen in four months.
Read on for all the details!
This past Sunday, Seattle saw record-breaking heat with a high of 88 degrees. Meanwhile, the lack of rain has allowed for wildfires in Washington state that are causing poor air quality throughout the city. An air quality alert is currently effect for areas of western Washington until Thursday evening.
Wildfire smoke will cause the air quality to rise to UNHEALTHY levels near active fires, including the new fire in east King County. At this time, other areas in the Puget Sound region are expected to be UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS or worse. Take steps to reduce your exposure. pic.twitter.com/YTUwSHhko6

On Friday, however, Seattle will get its first fall storm with cooler temperatures and rain. Seattle is predicted to get over an inch of rain. This is more rain than Seattle has received in the past four months. Seattle has only gotten about half an inch of rain since June 18. This has been one of the driest stretches of weather in Seattle history.
We’re continuing to monitor an abrupt pattern change starting Friday as the upper-level ridge that has dominated our weather breaks down, welcoming a series of incoming frontal systems and widespread appreciable rainfall. More details as the week enfolds. 🌧️🙌#WAwx pic.twitter.com/hhHL425jc8

The cool, rainy weather should last throughout the weekend into Monday. It should help bring the area’s air quality back to normal levels.
So break out your raincoats, Seattle (we know Seattleites don’t use umbrellas) and be careful driving over those slick fall leaves this weekend. True Seattle fall weather is finally here.
