Pioneer Square is Seattle’s oldest neighborhood and also one of its most charming. If you visit during the month of December, you’ll find its cobblestone streets and historic buildings lit up with festive holiday lights. You’ll also find some of Seattle’s best boutiques and stores for gift shopping. We rounded up the very best Pioneer Square shops to visit for unique, local gifts that will create a memorable moment.
Looking for more gift shopping inspiration after you’ve reached the end of this list? Be sure to check out our guides to other Seattle neighborhoods: the best Ballard shops for holiday gifts, the top Fremont shops for holiday gifts, and our favorite Wallingford shops for holiday gifts. (More to come!) There are also holiday markets in Seattle this month that you won’t want to miss.
Here are our picks for the top five Pioneer Square shops for gifts:
1. Flora and Henri
Flora and Henri is a stylish, sophisticated store in Pioneer Square where you’ll find a treasured gift for the adults and children in your life. Their 2022 holiday gift guide features vintage-inspired children’s clothes, sleek tech gadgets, a sculptural candle set, cashmere and silk scarves, and more tasteful pieces that your loved ones deserve but wouldn’t buy for themselves.
2. Magic Mouse Toys
Magic Mouse Toys is a massive two-story toy store that has been in Seattle since the ’70s. From toys and games to books and puzzles, you’re sure to find a gift for every kid’s age and interests here.
3. The London Plane
We have good news and bad news. The bad news is that The London Plane is permanently closing its doors at the end of 2022. We will be sad to see this Pioneer Square staple go. The good news is that you have until their closing date of December 24 to swing by for fresh flowers, a bite to eat with coffee (or wine!), and some shopping. They sell specialty grocery items like local jam and wine, handcrafted jewelry and ceramics, and more.
4. The Works Seattle
The Works is a small women-owned business in Seattle that sells DIY craft kits and offers in-person classes for everything from wreath making to block printing. If you have a loved one who enjoys getting creative and making things with their hands, or perhaps know someone who is making a new year resolution to try a new hobby, get them a kit or a gift card towards a class!
5. Velouria
Velouria is another small women-owned shop in Pioneer Square. They stock clothing, jewelry, home decor, and what they call “thoughtful adornment.” All of the products they sell are handmade in the USA or Canada. If you need inspiration for your holiday shopping, check out the gifts page on their website for everything from DIY cross stitch kits to mushroom-patterned underwear.
