Don’t miss the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Seattle!
Are you ready for New Year’s Eve in Seattle? Look for Seattle’s New Year’s Eve fireworks above the Space Needle at midnight tonight on Tuesday, December 31. This year, New Year’s Eve at the Space Needle has a new sponsor and is planning its biggest broadcast yet.
There are also free festivities planned at Seattle Center leading up to the fireworks show, making this a budget-friendly option for ringing in 2025.
Read on for the details!
The free festivities start at 8:00 p.m. with live music at Seattle Center. A live band will be playing at the Armory Stage from 8:00 p.m. until just before midnight. This free show will feature “the soulful sounds” of Northwest band The Blue Wave.
A Fountain of Light Dance Party at 10:00 p.m. will be free to view at the International Fountain, which is also located on Seattle Center grounds. DJ Baby Van Beezley will provide the tunes while a video and light show is projected onto the fountain.
Seattle’s New Year’s Eve fireworks show starts just before midnight. This will be “the largest structurally-launched firework show in North America,” according to the event website.
In addition to the fireworks, there will be hundreds of drones integrated into the show. If you love the fireworks the most, however, don’t worry; the drones will be complementing the fireworks, not replacing them!
This year’s new event sponsor is Alaska Airlines.
The best place to see the NYE fireworks will be the Seattle Center campus grounds, as they will be launched directly north of the Space Needle. The best viewing spots on the Seattle Center grounds are the Fisher Pavilion and the International Fountain. Be sure to get there early for a good spot.
You may also be able to see the fireworks above the Space Needle from these 6 other vantage points around the city:
- Kerry Park in Queen Anne
- Seacrest Park in West Seattle
- Hamilton Viewpoint Park in West Seattle
- Gas Works Park in Wallingford
- Ella Bailey Park in Magnolia
- This New Year’s Eve cruise on Elliott Bay (ages 21+)
Note that the Space Needle closes at 8:00 p.m. on December 31. That means that unfortunately, you can’t watch the fireworks from the Space Needle observation deck.
If you can’t make it out in person, you can see the fireworks by watching the broadcast or streaming it online. Another update this year is the addition of San Diego joining the broadcast along with Seattle, Portland, and Spokane. Seattleites can watch the show on KING 5 starting at 11:30 p.m. PST or by streaming it online at king5.com. The broadcast will also be available via KGW 8 in Portland, KREM 2 in Spokane, and CW 8.2 in San Diego.
