The Des Moines passenger ferry starts its pilot program this week.
This is great news for people who commute or regularly travel between Seattle and Des Moines, WA. Although the drive between the two cities is only about half an hour, it can be stressful dealing with traffic. Now you’ll have the option of taking this fast ferry instead.

The Des Moines passenger ferry is currently in its two-month pilot program phase. It debuts this Wednesday, August 10 and will continue through October 9th.
The cost for a trip on the ferry is $10 each way per adult (ages 14 and up). Seniors and active military will pay $5 and children ride free.
The good news is that it is free to ride the ferry for the first week! So if you want to give it a whirl, this is the week to try it.
The ferry takes 40 minutes each way. It will make four trips per day, Wednesday through Sunday. You can see the daily schedule with departure times here.
