The Amtrak Cascades train from Seattle to Vancouver, BC has returned earlier than expected!
You may recall that Amtrak announced in May that its Seattle to Vancouver route was being further delayed. The popular Northern leg of the Cascades route has been on pause since May 2020 and hasn’t reopened yet. The last announcement was that the delay was expected to continue until December 2022 due to staffing shortages.
Now we have good news: Amtrak has resumed service from Seattle to Vancouver this September! Read on for all the details…
The Amtrak Cascades route between Seattle and Vancouver, BC will now resume starting on Monday, September 26, 2022. There will only be one daily round trip to start, but eventually a second will be added once staffing allows.
There was no explanation given for the accelerated schedule but it appears that they were able to fulfill many of their staffing needs earlier than expected. According to an announcement on the Amtrak Cascades website, “WSDOT and ODOT are pleased to share that train service between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, will resume in September 2022. Earlier plans called for a December return to Canada, but Amtrak was able to advance the schedule. Stay tuned for further details.”
