Although we have plenty of options for romantic dates in Seattle, sometimes it’s fun to think outside the box. If you and your love are tired of the typical dinner and a movie date, consider celebrating your Valentine’s Day at Woodland Park Zoo.
On Thursday, February 16 Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo is celebrating Valentine’s Day with their Mating and Dating event. This educational evening is for ages 21 and up, and you probably have to know your date’s interests pretty well since the topic of discussion could make some people a little bashful. As the event description on the zoo’s website puts it: “Buy a cocktail at the bar and settle in while zoo staff and ambassador animals take you on a funny, fascinating, roller coaster of a ride through the sex lives of wildlife!” We think whoever came up with this event deserves a raise.
The best part is that the event isn’t on Valentine’s Day but a couple of days later, so you’re more likely to be able to get a dinner reservation. The event runs from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Afterwards you can continue your date with a late dinner or drinks. Our recommendations for nearby restaurants are RockCreek if you like seafood or Lupo if you prefer pizza.
If you’d like to register for this event you can get your tickets on the Woodland Park Zoo website.
