On this Sunday, June 15 we will be exactly one year away from the FIFA World Cup 2026 arriving in Seattle. To celebrate the beginning of the one-year countdown, Seattle will attempt to make a Guinness World Records attempt for the largest soccer lesson! Whether you sign up to participate or watch from the sidelines, you won’t want to miss what has the potential to be a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Read on for all the details!
How many people are needed to break the record?
To make the world record, more than 1,000 people need to participate in the 30-minute soccer lesson.
Who will teach the soccer lesson?
The lesson will be led by Seattle soccer celebrity coaches. They will also be joined by alumni from Sounders FC and Reign FC.
This event is brought to you by Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Reign FC, RAVE Foundation, and Seattle 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Where and when is the soccer lesson being held?
The soccer lesson will be held on Pier 62, which is part of Seattle’s new Waterfront Park. It will start at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 15. Yep: it’s happening on Father’s Day, so if you have a soccer-obsessed Dad this could be the perfect activity.

Pier 62 is a renovated historic pier with views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains. It is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Here is some more information about Pier 62 from seattle.gov:
“The first piece of Waterfront Park to open, Pier 62 is one acre of flexible public space that will be programmed year round with cultural, recreational, and educational programs that celebrate all communities and cultures. It will serve as a vibrant place for activities such as yoga, soccer, concerts, festivals, and more as a preview of the broader scale with the full Waterfront Park.”
How do I participate?
If you’re interested in being a part of Seattle’s world largest soccer lesson, you must register in advance to participate. The requirements include a minimum age of six years old and a participating adult to accompany each minor. Anyone who isn’t registered to participate is not allowed on the pier. If the participation quota is full, you can join the waitlist.
