Winter in Seattle is about to get a whole lot better thanks to a new “social sauna” that is opening soon on Pier 62. Tuli Lodge is opening on the Seattle waterfront on Saturday, November 1. It describes itself as a social sauna and wellness club, and you can book a time slot to try it out now!
Read on for more details.
“Tuli” means fire in Finnish. The founder and CEO of Tuli Lodge, Hannah Goldstein, conceived the idea for it during a 2023 trip to Norway. She wanted to create an affordable sauna here in Seattle that focuses on social connections. The Tuli website describes the sauna as having “beer garden energy, but with wood-fired saunas and cold plunges instead of brews.”
Guests at Tuli Lodge are encouraged to use the sauna to enjoy quality time with friends, start spontaneous conversations with strangers, kick-start their morning, or decompress after work. Tuli’s website says it is designed to feel “more like your favorite neighborhood hangout than a luxury spa.” Each one-hour session is meant to include rotations between the sauna and (optional) cold plunges on Pier 62.
The setup on Pier 62 will include two saunas, each with a 10-person capacity, arranged around fire pits, chairs, and cold plunge tubs. There may be additional saunas added in the future. You should plan to wear a bathing suit (the saunas are not separated by gender) and bring two towels.
Tuli Lodge opens for a soft launch on November 1, but its booking calendar is live now. Bookings open on a rolling basis two weeks in advance, and you can see the daily hours listed below. The saunas’ locations on Pier 62 mean that guests can watch the sunset over Elliott Bay or the sunrise behind the downtown Seattle skyline.
You can also sign up for a membership, with founding membership pricing and perks ending on Friday, October 31. Tuli Lodge’s website notes that “our goal is to always keep a sauna session cheaper than two drinks (cocktails) at the bar.” This means each one-hour sauna session is under $30, and less for members.
Note that Tuli Lodge is a winter experience; it will be open from November through April 30, 2026. Get more info on the Tuli Lodge website, or follow them on Instagram for updates.
