Cute pets in costumes are bringing Halloween spirit back to Seattle’s Volunteer Park this first weekend of October.
The annual Halloween Pet Parade takes over the Capitol Hill park on Sunday, October 4, from 11 AM to 2 PM, inviting Seattle pet lovers to bring their four-legged friends for an afternoon of festive fun. Last year, more than 900 community members turned out, and this year’s celebration is ready to bring the neighborhood together again.
The main attraction is, of course, the parade. Pets—and their humans—can show off their most creative Halloween costumes before competing for prizes in the costume contest. Whether your pet is going for spooky, silly, adorable, or completely over-the-top, there’s no need to register ahead of time. Even better, participating in the costume contest is free.

Beyond the parade and contest, you can enjoy live music, grab something to eat from food trucks, and browse booths from local vendors. It’s designed to be as much a community gathering as a pet event, so even those without a costumed companion can join in the fun.
The event is organized by Volunteer Park Trust, a volunteer-led nonprofit focused on caring for and improving Volunteer Park through stewardship, capital projects, arts programming and community events.
Located in the heart of Capitol Hill, Volunteer Park is also one of Seattle’s most notable historic landscapes. The park is considered the city’s best-preserved example of the Olmsted Brothers’ approach to park design, making it a fitting backdrop for a fall afternoon of neighborhood festivities.
Volunteers are needed! If you’d like to help out at Sunday’s event, visit the Volunteer Park Trust website.
