When to look for the Flower Moon?
The Flower Moon will rise in Seattle at 9:20 p.m. (PST) tonight. The sun sets at 8:37 p.m. and dusk will be transitioning to full nightfall as the moon rises. Look to the east to see the moon rising. It will seem bigger the closer it is to the horizon.
If you miss tonight’s Flower Moon, don’t worry—the moon will still appear full and bright for another couple of nights.
Why is it called the Flower Moon?
May’s full moon is called the Flower Moon because of all the wildflowers that pop up this month! Sometimes it even has a cheerful yellow or orange hue like a flower.
What are the chances for seeing the full moon in Seattle?
Unfortunately Seattle’s weather forecast calls for clouds tonight, with 85% cloud cover being predicted as of this morning. That said, if you’re willing to give it some time and patience tonight, you might be rewarded with a spectacular glimpse of the full Flower Moon as it peeks out between clouds.
