If you’ve always loved the houseboat owned by Tom Hanks’s character in Sleepless in Seattle and have always wondered what it would be like to live in one of Seattle’s floating homes, we have just the event for you. The Seattle Floating Homes Tour is back this weekend after a years-long hiatus. Tickets are available now but may sell out soon.
Read on for all the details!
On Sunday, September 7 you can embark on a self-guided tour of 10 floating homes on Lake Union. These floating homes are not open to the public, and this is the first time in seven years that the tour has happened in-person. Although it is a self-guided tour, you will get to meet the homeowners and hear the stories behind their floating homes.
There are two time slots: noon and 2:30 p.m. Each tour allows for 2.5 hours. You’ll pick up a physical map when you arrive in Seattle’s Eastlake neighborhood and will be able to tour at your own pace. Tickets cost $75 each and are required for all ages, except for infants in arms. No pets are allowed.

This event is for a good cause, especially if you care about Seattle’s historic houseboats. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Seattle Floating Homes Association. The association’s stated mission is “to protect, preserve and promote the vitality of Seattle’s historic floating homes community.”
This tour has sold out in the past and it is this coming Sunday. If you’re interested, be sure to get tickets ASAP. You can find all the info on the Seattle Floating Homes website.
