Looking for community and fitness in Seattle in the new year? A brand-new climbing gym is opening in West Seattle on the first day of 2026. It’s geared towards both seasoned climbers and beginners, as well as people who are looking for a third space that fosters community and wellness.

Castle Climbing Club is an adult-focused bouldering gym and wellness space opening in West Seattle on January 1, 2026. The facility is designed primarily for adults and combines climbing with recovery amenities and social spaces. In addition to climbing, the club plans to host film screenings and events and includes features such as a sauna, billiards, pole fitness classes, and extended evening hours. The gym was founded by a group of friends with shared interests in bouldering, outdoor recreation, and sauna and cold-water traditions.
About the bouldering gym: The bouldering area spans a large portion of the property and is intended for a wide range of adult skill levels, from beginners to advanced climbers. Routes are reset on a regular schedule so they’re always fresh: new boulders are added weekly across six sections, and the full bouldering zone is refreshed every six weeks. Wall features include two 20-by-20-foot roof sections, a large amount of slab terrain, varied wall angles, a mushroom-shaped feature, and a rotating rolling-pin element. Routes are set using custom-made holds and volumes, with an emphasis on accommodating both new climbers and higher-grade climbers.
About the sauna: The facility also includes a Finnish-style sauna inspired by traditional mountain saunas. The wood-fired sauna is built from cedar and housed in an upcycled shipping container, constructed by local artisans. Sauna access is included with memberships and day passes. Note that the sauna is co-ed, requires swim attire and towels, and is restricted to adults 18+. They also have cold showers and other features in a “cold water garden” to cool you off after a hot sauna session.
Additional amenities: The space also houses a large collection of weight training equipment, squat racks, and cardio machines. The gym plans to offer daily and weekly adult fitness classes, beginning with yoga; pole dancing and other movement classes will follow in time. While the space is primarily adult-oriented, limited daytime climbing hours are available for youth ages 8 and up.
Castle offers a monthly and annual membership, as well as a $25 day pass. Right now they’re offering a pre-opening monthly pass at $59 through December 31, but it will go up from there to $90+.
The gym’s hours (including the sauna) will be noon to midnight daily. They hope to add morning hours in time. You can check them out starting at noon on Thursday, January 1, 2026 and find more info on the gym’s website or Instagram.
