Did you know that Seattle has one of the best parks in the country for viewing Fourth of July fireworks?
Yelp recently ranked Seattle’s Gas Works Park as the second-best place in the country to see fireworks this Fourth of July—second only to Niagara Falls. To accomplish this ranking, Yelp looked at its pages for parks and popular landmarks and scoured their reviews for terms like “firework” and “4th of July.” It then created a ranking of those spots based on the number of reviews and their star ratings.
Here are a few excerpts from Yelp reviews for Gas Works Park that mention the Fourth of July fireworks:
- “I’ve spent July 4th here and although it gets packed like a sardine, the fireworks over the water was gorgeous and a great experience overall.”
- “Probably one of the closest fireworks I’ve been to!”
- “I’ve never seen such impressive display of fireworks.”
- “Beautiful views of the Seattle skyline as a backdrop to the fireworks.”
If you haven’t experienced fireworks at Gas Works Park yet, it’s not too late for this year. The Fourth of July fireworks show starts above Lake Union at 10:15 p.m. this Friday—but you’ll want to get there early. The park gets extremely crowded and parking in the area is very limited. Plus, only ticket holders will be allowed into the park after 8:00 p.m. (entry is free before 8:00 p.m.).
In addition to the fireworks display, Gas Works Park will have food trucks, beer gardens, and festivities starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. You’ll find similar options starting at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Union Park, which will also have a good view of the fireworks.
