If you’re one of many Seattleites willing to wait in line for a sweet treat, there’s a new weekend destination in Seattle’s International District worth knowing about.
Rolled Flour, a small-batch cinnamon roll pop-up operating inside Miero Coffee Bar at 665 S King St, has quickly developed a following since beginning its permanent residency. On recent mornings, customers have lined up before the doors open, with the queue sometimes stretching down the block.
The draw is a lineup of soft, freshly baked milk bread cinnamon rolls. Rolled Flour’s dough is made over more than 48 hours, giving the rolls their notably pillowy texture. The menu includes a classic roll alongside rotating flavors, with recent offerings including Biscoff cookie butter, apple cider, and maple chai.
The classic is a solid choice for anyone who prefers a straightforward cinnamon roll that isn’t overwhelmingly sweet. But the Biscoff variety is particularly memorable, pairing cinnamon with the warm, spiced flavor of speculoos cookies. Cookie crumbs add a subtle crunch and texture to the creamy topping. The apple cider roll is another winner for fall, leaning gooey and warmly spiced without feeling quite as rich as some heavily frosted cinnamon rolls.
There is, however, one catch: these cinnamon rolls are popular. The line can begin forming around 10 a.m., and arriving shortly after opening doesn’t necessarily mean skipping the wait. The upside is that the queue tends to move, and the small-batch baking means you’re getting rolls made fresh that day.
Rolled Flour currently operates Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until it sells out. New flavors are expected roughly every other week, so checking their Instagram page before heading over is a smart move.
From the Rolled Flour website: “All rolls are made with a soft, pillow-like dough that’s raised over 48 hours for the best flavor and texture. I make only small batches out of my apartment kitchen and baked the day of pick up. Because everything’s fresh and homemade, quantities are VERY limited each week.”
For Seattle cinnamon-roll fans, the equation is pretty simple: bring friends, arrive early, and be prepared for breakfast to become brunch.
