We all know that housing costs in Seattle have been on the rise. The average sales price of a home in King County recently reached $1 million. It can be stressful for the average person trying to buy a home in Seattle. It may even be enough to make you do something pretty wild—like signing up for a reality TV competition based on a nail-biting Netflix show.
Yep, Netflix is producing a reality show based on the popular hit show Squid Game. The reality version is called Squid Game: The Competition and will have 10 episodes of drama, alliances, betrayal, and suspense (but surely none of the darker, more violent elements of the original).
“Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment,” said Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Unscripted and Documentary Series.
If you are chosen to compete, you will be in the running against 455 other contestants to win $4.56 million dollars. You could definitely snap up a nice piece of Seattle real estate with that amount. And think of all the ways that living in Seattle prepares you to win a competition like this! If contestants have to compete in bad weather or power through being wet and cold, Seattleites will barely even notice. We’re used to the Seattle freeze, so it wouldn’t phase us if nobody wants to team up. And we certainly would never choose the cookie with the umbrella.
Although the show will be filmed in the UK, English speakers around the globe are encouraged to apply. You just have to have a valid passport. You can apply at SquidGameCasting.com. Good luck—and if you win, we’d love to come visit you in your new mansion in Bellevue.
