Seattle is gearing up for one of its most beloved holiday traditions, and you won’t want to miss it! This Saturday, November 29, Pike Place Market is celebrating its 30th Annual Magic in the Market. This free event is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season, as you’ll get to see the Market transformed into a twinkling winter wonderland full of festive fun. No tickets or RSVP required!
Read on for all the details!
From 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the Market will be buzzing with activities for all ages. You can snag free photos with Santa between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (just be sure to get in line by 3) and meet his live reindeer! Local artist Louis Shackleton will be doing a craft demonstration of handmade wands. Feeling creative? Add your touch to DIY holiday cards designed by Carrie Narducci, or join the Market Elves on the Shelves scavenger hunt—find at least five and you can enter to win a prize.
There’s plenty more to explore, like glowing light-up photo ops, holiday choir performances, cookie decorating with Chef Traci, and for the grownups, a special 21+ Sip & Savor tasting experience featuring seasonal bites and sips from around the Market. Visitors are also encouraged to support the community by donating hearty soups and protein bars to the “Fill a Bowl, Fuel a Day” food drive, benefiting the Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank. And, of course, you can get some early holiday shopping done at all the vendors booths and shops at the Market.
The evening culminates with the beloved Market lighting ceremony, complete with a lively show by the Can Can dancers and a festive performance from Carly Ann Calbero. The lighting ceremony starts under the Market clock at 5:00 p.m. but you’ll want to find a good spot ahead of time, since it tends to get crowded.
You can find more details about this year’s event on the Pike Place Market website. See you there, Seattle!
