Seattle, this is your final call for one of the city’s favorite summer treats.
The Pastry Project’s soft serve window in Pioneer Square is closing for the season this weekend, with the final day on Sunday, September 6. If you haven’t made a stop yet—or you’ve been meaning to go back for one more cone—now’s the time.
What makes The Pastry Project’s soft serve especially fun is the rotating lineup of creative toppings, dips, and collaborations with other Seattle businesses. Throughout the season, the shop has teamed up with local favorites for inventive specials, including a baklava-and-pistachio sundae from Toasted Bagels, a matcha hard-shell dip made with VALE Matcha, and a peanut butter shoyu pie sundae from The Wayland Mill.
The soft serve window is a seasonal tradition, typically running from June through August, with this year’s extended season wrapping up on September 6. The soft serve window is open Wednesday through Saturday from 3–8 p.m. and Sunday from noon–8 p.m. If you go this Thursday, September 3, you can enjoy your treat while exploring the monthly Pioneer Square Art Walk.
And while the soft serve may be disappearing for the year, the treats at The Pastry Project aren’t going anywhere. Its bakery window remains open year-round Tuesday through Saturday, serving up fresh cinnamon rolls, maple pancake croissants, rotating cakes, focaccia and other pastries.
Beyond the baked goods, there’s another reason to support this Pioneer Square favorite. Founded in 2019, The Pastry Project is a women-owned small business focused on making pastry education and employment more equitable. Its free 20-week program provides baking and pastry training, soft-skills development and job-placement assistance for people facing barriers to employment.
