Seattle’s neighborhood-walking scene is getting another chance to stretch its legs this fall. The Seattle Super Saunter is bringing back its Phinney-Fremont-Ballard route on October 11, this time with a new name inspired by one of the city’s most famous recent animal residents: the raccoon known as Jimothy.
The 10-mile Jimothy Jaunt is organized by Holden Minor Ringer, founder of the Seattle Super Saunter. Ringer started the group after walking across the country in 2024, from La Push, Washington, to New Haven, Connecticut. Since then, he’s organized a series of long neighborhood strolls around the region.
Ringer organizes local walks in Seattle such as the Queen Anne Quest and West Seattle Saunter, as well as walks on the Eastside, Bellingham, and Tacoma.
Announcing this year’s October 11 walk, which was previously called the Phinney, Fremont and Ballard Fall Frolic, Ringer said on Instagram: “Given the newfound stardom of our lord and savior, Jimothy, I thought it apt to change the name to the Jimothy Jaunt.”
The walk will begin around 10 a.m. at the Phinney Neighborhood center then wind through several of northwest Seattle’s familiar weekend destinations. The group will make stops at the Fremont Market and Ballard Farmers Market before crossing the Ballard Locks and continuing toward Golden Gardens.
From there, participants will head back through Ballard, wrapping up at Urban Family Brewing Co.

As for the event’s namesake, Ringer isn’t promising a Jimothy sighting. With potentially hundreds of walkers, he admits, “Probably not.” But he says that raccoon- or Jimothy-themed outfits are encouraged, though not required.
The event is free, and walkers can tackle as much or as little of the route as they want. “Join for 1 mile or all 10,” Ringer says. Stickers will be available for $5, with T-shirts also a possibility.
