Looking for a unique way to kick off Pride 2026 in Seattle? Seattle’s third annual Gays Eating Garlic Bread in the Park is returning on June 6, bringing queer Seattleites together for an afternoon of carbs, conversation, and new connections at Woodland Park.
The free event runs from noon to 5 p.m. on the south side of Woodland Park (the address is 1000 N 50th St). Organizers say everyone is welcome, regardless of age or identity, though the gathering is primarily meant to create space for LGBTQ+ people to meet others in the local queer community.
At its core, the event is exactly what it sounds like: people hanging out in the park eating garlic bread. But it’s also become a casual social meetup designed to help attendees make friends and build community ahead of Pride season. Name tags will be available, and organizers plan to set up neighborhood-specific tables so people can connect with others from their own neighborhoods such as Capitol Hill, West Seattle, Northgate, and so on.
There’s also room for more structured activities. Attendees can join a Dungeons & Dragons game at Table 5, start a game of frisbee, or simply spread out on a blanket and chat with whoever wanders over.
This is a BYOGB (bring your own garlic bread) event, though in past years some attendees have brought extra to share. Beyond that, think of it like any classic Seattle park hangout: bring sunscreen, water, a blanket, snacks, and whatever games or activities you want for an afternoon outdoors.
Parking at Woodland Park is limited to around 200 spots, so organizers recommend carpooling, biking, or taking transit if possible. The RapidRide E Line and Route 44 both stop nearby, with about a 10-minute walk to the event area.
If you’d like to attend this year’s Gays Eating Garlic Bread in the Park, you can RSVP on the event website.
