Hey Seattle, have you visited Friend Museum yet? Opened in August 2024, this vintage store in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood is a welcome addition to the city’s collection of third places. A third place is a location other than work or home where you can hang out and be with other people. Friend Museum fits this bill because they often host free and low-cost events. They describe themselves as “a traditional vintage store but with a calendar that more closely resembles that of an event space.”

Vintage store
Friend Museum primarily functions as a vintage store. You’ll find racks of vintage and handmade clothing here, ranging from Selkie dresses and vintage Pendleton to affordable thrills such as stickers and $15 flannel.
Pass the Matches bottle shop
Right when you walk into Friend Museum you’ll be greeted by shelves of vino. This in-house bottle shop is Pass the Matches, which offers “natural wine made by women, BIPOC, queer, trans, and independent producers.” In addition to selling bottles of wine, Pass the Matches also holds frequent wine tastings at Friend Museum.
Exhibit Coffee
There’s nothing like thrifting with a latte in hand. At Friend Museum, they’ve made that experience easy to achieve. Their in-house cafe, Exhibit Coffee, is open from 9:00 to 5:00 seven days a week so you can sip and shop.
Events
Friend Museum regularly uses their space to host community events such as art shows, intimate concerts, tattoo pop-ups, classes, and more. In February 2025 their events included a donation-based yoga class and a free photo walk around Pioneer Square. We’re looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the March event calendar!
