Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral is located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood near Volunteer Park. Every Monday at 6:30 p.m. the church opens its doors for an hour-long Cathedral Yoga. About nine rotating yoga instructors guide all skill levels in a “gentle, restorative, and contemplative practice,” according to the Saint Mark’s website.
There is no stated fee for this class; rather, Saint Mark’s requests that participants “pay what you can.” Some yoga mats are available to borrow on a first-come-first-served basis. You may want to bring your own yoga mat, as well as water and whatever else you need for your yoga practice.
You’ll want to arrive early: the cathedral doors open at 6:00 p.m. and then are locked at 6:30 p.m. for the start of class.
Twice a month, the Cathedral Yoga session concludes with additional experiences. On the third Monday of each month, the class is extended by 15 minutes for a savasana accompanied by a sound bath. And on the fourth Monday of each month, the class is followed by a social tea time.
