Seattle’s Italian dining scene has an intriguing new addition. Casa Gabriele, an upscale restaurant in Pioneer Square from the team behind Bottega Gabriele, opened in early June, bringing together the flavors of Naples and Sardinia under one roof.
Located at 88 Yesler Way, Casa Gabriele offers a unique concept: a Neapolitan trattoria and a Sardinian kitchen sharing the same dining room. Guests descend a staircase into a cozy underground space, where exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and an intimate atmosphere set the stage for a memorable meal. The menu features handmade pasta, meatballs, and other Italian classics, with a focus on authentic regional cooking.
The restaurant builds on the success of Bottega Gabriele, the casual Italian deli just across the street. Since opening last year, the deli has earned praise for its sandwiches, making it a popular lunch destination for mortadella, cannoli, and other Italian specialties.
Behind both businesses are partners Chef Gabriele Brownstein and Gabriele Russo. Brownstein grew up in Sardinia, where his father and brother continue to run Trigu Italia, an export company that works directly with local producers and offers bespoke culinary tours. After moving to Seattle a decade ago, Brownstein worked his way through the city’s restaurant industry before opening Bottega Gabriele with Russo in 2025.
Russo, who grew up in Naples in a family of chefs and shop owners, brings his own deep-rooted culinary traditions to the partnership. Together, they source the meats, cheeses, olive oil, and other ingredients directly from producers they know personally, ensuring an authentic taste of Italy in every dish.
Casa Gabriele is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight, and reservations are accepted.
