
Looking for a fun and safe place to swim in Seattle this summer? We rounded up all of Seattle’s outdoor pools and beaches that will be operating with lifeguards for the 2025 season. We have the opening dates and addresses of each option below. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

1. Colman Pool
This heated saltwater pool in West Seattle has an awesome view of Elliott Bay. It’s open for daily use with lifeguards starting on Monday, June 16 through Monday, September 1.

2. Mounger Pool
This outdoor pool in Magnolia has a 50-foot corkscrew slide. There is also a smaller kids’ pool that is warm and shallow. Mounger is open for daily use with lifeguards from Monday, June 23 through Monday, September 1.

3. Madrona Beach
Madrona Beach is currently open with lifeguards through August 24 for this summer. On clear days you get a great view of the Eastside and Mount Rainier across Lake Washington.

4. West Green Lake Beach
The West Green Lake Beach is open now for swimming with lifeguards through September 1. Note that the East Green Lake Beach is not operating for summer 2025.

5. Matthews Beach Park
Matthews Beach Park is operating with lifeguards from June 21 to September 1. It is Seattle’s largest freshwater bathing beach, and is also the site of the city’s Polar Plunge every January 1st!

6. Madison Park Beach
Madison Beach is open with lifeguards from June 21 to September 1. You’ll have a view of the floating bridge and the Cascades across Lake Washington.

7. Mount Baker Beach
Mount Baker Beach in Mount Baker Park is open with lifeguards from June 21 to September 1.

8. Seward Park Beach
Seward Park Beach is open with lifeguards from June 21 to September 1.

9. Pritchard Island Beach
Located in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood, Pritchard Island Beach is open with lifeguards from June 21 to August 24.

10. Magnuson Park
Note that as of June 10, there is a warning to stay out of the water at Magnuson Park Swimming Beach. King County Health monitors the water quality at all freshwater swim beaches during the summer; we’ll update this when Magnuson is safe for swimming again. It is supposed to be open with lifeguards for the 2025 season from June 21 to August 24.

East Green Lake Beach: closed
The East Green Lake Beach is closed for the 2025 season due to staffing limitations.
There are also 17 wading pools and 11 spray parks in Seattle! These are a great option for kids who can’t swim yet. For the hours and location of each one, visit the Seattle Parks and Recreation website.
