Looking for a summer adventure near Seattle with knights, pirates, fairies, and plenty of mead? The Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire returns for five weekends this July and August, transforming the scenic banks of the Skykomish River in Snohomish into the bustling Village of Merriwick. Just about an hour from Seattle, it’s an easy weekend getaway where you can step into a world of medieval fantasy.
What is there to do there? Entertainment is the heart of the faire, with something happening around nearly every corner. Cheer on armored knights during thrilling jousting tournaments, catch live music ranging from traditional folk to modern Celtic-inspired performances, and enjoy comedy, theater, and street performers throughout the grounds. You’ll also encounter the Queen and her royal court as they roam the village, along with other characters who bring the immersive storyline to life. Families will find plenty of kid-friendly fun, including storytime, all-ages knighting ceremonies, birds of prey demonstrations, carnival rides, archery, henna, and more.
Between shows, browse the sprawling merchant marketplace featuring artisan vendors and handcrafted goods, then grab a bite from one of the many food vendors serving both Renaissance-inspired fare and familiar festival favorites. Adults 21 and older can stop by one of the lively Ale Houses for beer, mead, cider, or spirits while soaking up the festive atmosphere.
If one day at the faire isn’t enough, you can get an onsite camping package to turn the experience into a full weekend getaway. Camping includes admission to the Saturday and Sunday faire, plus access to the Friday and Saturday evening festivities. Friday’s 21+ Knight Club features karaoke, DJs, burlesque, drag, circus performances, and a themed costume contest. Saturday night expands the fun with an all-ages dance party, a night market, live music, headline entertainment in the Royal Arena, and a fire show.
Costumes are encouraged but never required. You’ll see everything from Vikings and pirates to fairies, barbarians, kilts, and even the occasional sci-fi character, making it easy to join in at whatever level feels fun. You can also choose to dress for the weekend’s theme.
The 2026 season features five themed weekends: Viking Weekend (July 18–19), Feast of Fools (July 25–26), Dark Fantasy (August 1–2), Pirate Weekend (August 8–9), and Fae & Fables (August 15–16).
The Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire takes place at Sky Meadows in Snohomish (18601 Sky Meadows Lane). The faire runs rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with special evening events on Friday and Saturday nights. Parking is free, with ADA parking available on a first-come, first-served basis.
