Every October, you can take a self-guided tour through Coupeville to see creative scarecrows from local businesses and community groups, then vote for your favorite. This year’s scarecrow theme is Scooby Doo! See an online map here.
Weary Bones Rest Stop Graveyard

Where: Coupeville Rec Hall
Cost: Free
While you’re in Coupeville this October, be sure to stop by the seasonal Weary Bones Rest Stop Graveyard. Pay close attention to the messages on the gravestones and also step cautiously: “not all our cemetery residents rest in peace!” It can be accessed through Rec Hall parking lot on Coveland or from Alexander Street, next to the Chamber of Commerce.
Scenic Isles Pumpkin Patch
When: daily throughout October
Where: 46 S. Ebey Rd, Coupeville, WA
Cost: Free ($7 for haunted barn)
Scenic Isles Farm in Coupeville has a variety of fall fun this October. In addition to their pumpkin patch, on October weekends they have trolley rides, spooky sunflower trails, and a haunted barn ($7 entry). They also have a farm stand with pumpkins for sale that is open daily.
Whidbey’s Oktoberfest

When: Saturday, October 4, 2025 from noon to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Greenbank Farm’s Main Barn
Cost: $20-$25
Celebrate Oktoberfest on Whidbey Island on Saturday, October 4. There will be live music, local beer and food, and games with prizes. This event is for ages 21+. Get tickets and more info here.
Witches’ Walk
When: Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
Where: from the Coupeville wharf
Cost: $15
The perfect fall activity for fans of Practical Magic, the annual Witches’ Walk in Coupeville will make you feel like an Owens sister. There will be a witch street dance, a costume contest, and more. Get tickets via the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce.
Paint Your Pumpkin
When: Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Beaver Tales Coffee on the Coupeville wharf
Cost: $25 per family

Practical Magic Movie Nights

An annual tradition, Coupeville’s October screening of Practical Magic will occur across three nights this month. There will also be a costume contest, trivia, free popcorn, and Midnight Margaritas available to purchase. All three nights are sold out online, but if you’re able to show up early you may be able to snag one of the limited tickets available at the door. Note that this is for ages 21+ only.
Ales & Apothecary Brew Garden

The Ales & Apothecary brew garden next to the historic Haller House is a 21+ event on Saturday, October 25. It’s described as a “cozy, witchy retreat” that is “the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the autumnal atmosphere.” More info here.
Torchlight Parade & Street Dance

When: Saturday, October 25 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Where: Downtown Coupeville
Cost: Free
The highlight of October in Coupeville, the annual Torchlight Parade & Street Dance is a “Halloween wonderland.” It’s free and family-friendly. Find it on Front Street starting at 5:30 p.m.
Also, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Beaver Tales Coffee on the Coupeville Wharf will have free pre-parade activities and hot drinks.
The Great Coupeville Pumpkin Race

When: Sunday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m.

Murder on the Wharf: Voices of our Ancestors
