The biggest thrifting event of the year is coming to the Seattle-Tacoma region this summer. If your ideal weekend involves digging through vintage denim, retro home decor, and random treasures you didn’t know you needed, mark your calendar for Thriftapalooza this June. On June 6-7, the Washington State Fair Events Center in Puyallup is turning into Disneyland for thrifters and bargain hunters.
Picture a giant warehouse packed with secondhand finds from local sellers: vintage clothing, furniture, collectibles, home goods, and plenty of garage sale-style bargains mixed in with curated vintage pieces. If furniture hunting is your main goal, know that organizers advise arriving early. (See the hours listed below).
The event runs all weekend, with food trucks, coffee, and even a “secret” bar on site so you can shop for hours without needing to leave. Sunday is known as “Secret Sale Day,” when many vendors restock their booths and start cutting deals to avoid hauling inventory home. Translation: if you love bargain hunting, day two might be your moment.
A few pro tips before you go:
- Bring cash if you can, since warehouse WiFi can be spotty and card readers aren’t always reliable. There will be ATMs on site though.
- Buy tickets ahead of time; advance planning saves you $5 before prices jump on event day.
- Bring a wagon or a cart. These are permitted and if you’re planning to do serious shopping, it’ll come in handy.
- Sunday is Secret Sale Day. On the last day of the event, many sellers want to move items out of their booths so there are deals to be had!
The event is community-oriented. Kids under 12 get in free, and 100% of sales go directly to the sellers. Thriftapalooza also partners with local nonprofits, giving vendors a chance to donate unsold items at the end of the weekend instead of sending them to the landfill.
