Looking for a budget-friendly, low-key way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Seattle? Sunday Craft Club at Asylum Collective is a free, drop-in crafting meetup where you can make something, work on an old project, learn a new skill, or simply hang out around other creative people.
You don’t need experience, a finished project, or even a specific idea. Supplies and tools are provided, free of charge! Their art supply and tool library has over 1,000 items in it. Bring something you’ve already started, bring a friend, or just show up and dig through the supplies. Staff can also help with projects and tools.
And there’s a lot to work with. The space has sewing machines, airbrush sets, fabric, paints, clay, sculpture and collage supplies, Cricut and heat-press equipment, embroidery and tufting supplies, jewelry-making materials, button and pin makers, yarn, stamps, watercolor, colored pencils, guitars, analog bass synths, and plenty more.
You can paint your clothes, start a zine, make a pin, fix something, experiment with a new medium, or just sip a café drink while everyone around you makes stuff. The café also has $5 mimosas and $5 drinks, including lavender matcha lattes.
The whole idea is refreshingly simple: spend a few hours making things instead of scrolling, meet some people, and give yourself a little weekly ritual that feels grounded in the real world. Come make something—or just come hang out. Either way, it’s a pretty nice excuse to put the phone down for a while.
