After little to no hesitation (because let’s be honest here, anything Stranger Things is our jam), we made our way over to 1750 Occidental Ave, where a thrilling adventure inspired from our favorite series awaited. Set replicas from the show, exciting photo-ops, food, drinks — and a completely new storyline — had our hearts beating out of our chests.
Stranger Things: The Experience is the perfect adventure to embark on if you’re a fan of the sci-fi series. One thing’s for sure: it definitely quenched our thirst for Stranger Things content, as we’ve been faced with the painful wait for season 5. If you’re in need of something to hold onto till then, keep on reading for our review of the Stranger Things Experience that’s open in Seattle through September 4.
Friends don’t lie: you’re gonna want to explore this exciting adventure into the Upside Down!
As soon as we stepped through the doors of 1750 Occidental Ave, we were sucked into the neon atmosphere of Stranger Things. The venue was completely transformed into Hawkins, Indiana, with all of its ‘80s decor and sets — including a replica of the Hawkins Lab, where we’re called for a sleep study at the beginning of the experience. Dr. Brennner (Papa, if you will) has requested our presence to improve the sleep quality of Hawkins residents. Soon, however, this supposed science experiment turns out to be way more…
Our Stranger Things journey didn’t stop there: we got to meet some of the series’ most iconic characters, gasp in surprise at specific show references and experience jump scares galore (especially with all those special effects)! We’re not snitches, so we’ll stop there, but you need to check it out for yourself!
Once we’ve defeated Hawkins’ evil forces, we got to lounge at Mix-Tape, the retro space of the experience, for hours on hours. We came face-to-face with some of the show’s most legendary sets like the Byers’ living room with the Christmas lights, Surfer Boy Pizza and Scoops Ahoy (where we embarked on an ocean of flavor!). Our favorite delicacies had to be the Dusty Bun, the experience’s take on a cinnamon roll, and The Upside Bar’s themed “Demogorgon” cocktail.
So many things that were not in the show came to life as well, like a Hellfire merch section featuring Eddie and so many more surprises that you’ll definitely enjoy!
It was really hard for us to leave Stranger Things: The Experience, simply because Mix-Tape makes it so easy to forget about time passing by. On top of set recreations and *chef’s kiss* food and drinks, we also got to snap exclusive shots at the many photo ops of the experience. Our fav had to be the retro photo booth that makes you feel as though you’re straight out of a ‘80s movie!
Stranger Things: The Experience is an exhilarating roller coaster of excitement, and we’ll definitely be back. Maybe we’ll see you there?
