Looking to kick off your weekend with some good food and free live music? Head over to the annual South Lake Union Block Party this Friday, August 8. The block party is an all-day affair and is open to all ages—with free admission!

The annual South Lake Union Block Party is a free, family-friendly way to enjoy what the SLU neighborhood has to offer. It’s also dog-friendly! The fun starts at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and goes until 10:00 p.m. Below, you can check out all the highlights.
Two music stages
Local Northwest artists will be performing on the two music stages. Power pop group Hockey Teeth kicks things off at 3:00 p.m., followed by indie rock band Lovely Colors at 5:30 p.m. and 90s Rewind at 7:00 p.m. Prom Date Mixtape will close the show starting at 8:30 p.m. Plus Seattle-based DJ A.S.I.A will be keeping the dancing going between sets throughout the afternoon and evening.
Community fair
You can browse local businesses’ booths and connect with community organizations starting at 11:00 a.m. Some of the local organizations that will be there on Friday include The Center for Wooden Boats, Emerald City Pirates, We Heart Seattle, and Gage Academy of Art. Just know that the community booths shut down at 4:00 p.m.
Food trucks and beer garden
Food trucks will be operating throughout the block party. Plus, ages 21 and up can enjoy the beer and cocktail garden on the Discovery Center Lawn during the entire block party: from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Lawn games, yoga, and more
There will be a CorePower yoga class from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the Discovery Center Lawn. All ages and levels are welcome to join this “revitalizing” yoga session for free. There will also be more fun activities to enjoy, such as lawn games and a street scramble.
