Seattle moviegoers will see several updates at SIFF Cinemas beginning in early March. On February 23, the nonprofit announced upcoming changes to pricing, discounts, accessibility, and select programming days and times across its venues. SIFF says the goal is to “create more continuity across our venues and programs and create more consistency for our patrons.” They will be expanding the time window for matinee pricing, expanding their $7 movie day to include all locations (and switching it from Monday to Tuesday), and expanding their open captioning offerings, to highlight a few changes.
Starting Friday, March 6, here’s all the changes you can expect at SIFF Cinemas:
- Matinee time window expansion: All matinees will be $3 off the regular ticket price for any show before 5 p.m., excluding holidays.
- Discount Tuesdays: The popular Movie Mondays shift to Tuesdays, with $7 tickets at all locations, now including SIFF Cinema Downtown. Tuesday films will be presented with Open Captions when available.
- Increased member discount: Member ticket discounts at SIFF Cinema Downtown increase from $3 off to $4 off.
- Community screenings: Tickets for community screenings at SIFF Cinema Downtown will be $7 for adults and $5 for children (no additional member discounts).
- Expanded open captions: All Sunday matinees and all Tuesday screenings will feature open captioning (English subtitles on-screen), when available.
- Movie Club move: The Movie Club series moves to Mondays (formerly Wednesdays).
In its announcement, SIFF emphasized its commitment to keeping ticket prices as accessible as possible while maintaining inclusive experiences that “champion film discovery and arts education.” The nonprofit also noted that every ticket purchase plays a vital role in supporting SIFF’s long-term financial sustainability.
