Do you love thrifting? You won’t want to miss this Saturday’s ThriftCon in Seattle, which will have over 100 vendors selling secondhand, vintage, and collectible finds. It is taking place for one day only at the Seattle Convention Center, and tickets are still available.
Read on for all the details!
What is ThriftCon?
ThriftCon is a nationwide vintage clothing and collectible convention. It was started in 2019 in Denver and has since expanded to cities across the country. Each city’s ThriftCon typically has between 100 and 200 vendors, and their wares can vary widely. According to the ThriftCon website: “Each individual booth has its own unique personality (and checkout systems).”
ThriftCon Seattle is this Saturday, September 6. General admission access is from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All ages are welcome, and ages under 13 get in for free.
Where is it taking place?
ThrifCon will be at Seattle Convention Center, which is located downtown. You’ll find it in the newer Summit Building. The address is 900 Pine Street.
What will the thrifting experience be like?
You’ll be able to shop for clothing, jewelry, vinyl, art, and more. Tide is partnering with ThriftCon to offer a Pay by the Lb section, which will have over 4,000 pounds of vintage clothing starting at $10 per pound. Their partner Singer will also be there with live sewing demonstrations and a Creator’s Corner with creators debuting upcycled pieces. There will even be a dedicated Record Shop section made up of local vinyl vendors.
Despite its name, ThriftCon is more curated than your average thrift store and therefore you can expect some prices to reflect that. Many sellers will have high-end vintage and collectible items, but there will also be many sellers who source their wares from discount bins and price accordingly. Prices can range from $100 vintage T-shirts to $1 discount piles that you can dig through. “According to guest and vendor surveys, most of the items purchased generally range in the $10-$50 price,” notes the ThriftCon website.
How much are tickets?
Tickets cost $17 in advance. Tickets will also be available for $20 at the door. Remember that ages under 13 have free admission!
If you want to beat the crowd and have your first pick of the goods, you can pay $40 for early entry at 9:00 a.m.—an hour before doors open for general admission. You can also snag a free tote bag if you’re one of the first 100 people in line for early entry.
What if I can’t make it on Saturday?
If you can’t go on Saturday—or even if you can!—you should check out the official ThriftCon pre-party happening on Friday, September 5 at Soft Goods Vintage in Ballard (1539 Leary Wy NW). From 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. there will be official merch, vintage shopping, food trucks, DJs, and flash tattoos. This event is free!
