Seattle Storm guard Natisha Hiedeman is turning her marathon training into a community affair with RunBudz, a new running club in Seattle that invites fans and locals to hit the pavement alongside her.
The club, inspired by Hiedeman’s love of running and her desire to connect with communities around the world, has already drawn serious interest. More than 400 people joined one of the club’s first runs, creating a crowd that’s hard to miss.
The name RunBudz is a nod to Hiedeman’s popular “Stud Budz” brand with fellow WNBA player Courtney Williams.
At the group’s most recent meetup on Tuesday, August 18, runners took on a 2.8-mile loop around Green Lake. And you don’t need to be a seasoned runner to join in. RunBudz welcomes all ability levels as well as walkers. You can feel free to run at your own pace or even walk the route.
The next meetup is set for Thursday, August 27. Runners should meet at 5902 Lake Washington Boulevard South by 6:30 p.m.
Whether you’re training for a race, looking for a new way to explore Seattle, or simply want to run alongside a Storm star, RunBudz offers an easy way to get moving and meet the community. Based on the turnout so far, finding the group shouldn’t be a challenge.
